Local dog-friendly hikes

We here at Point of View love our residents’ pets! To us they are valued (and adorable) residents as well, and we do our best to make them feel at home with our 3 off-leash dog play areas, free pet wash station and waived deposit for any pet that is adopted from Utah’s Humane Society!

You and your fur baby will love life at Point of View not only for the pet perks but also for the great access to some amazing dog-friendly hikes! Here are a few of our recommended spots:

Deer Ridge, Draper

Nestled at the top of Suncrest, Deer Ridge is our closest off-leash trail, only 9 minutes away from Point of View! It’s the perfect spot for an after-work jaunt with you pup at any time of the year. Enjoy gorgeous views of the valley. There is a short 1 mile loop or extend your hike to the top where a strange structure sits that locals call Alien Tower - you have to see it to believe it!

Pipeline Trail, Millcreek

If you are looking for something a bit easier- Pipeline trail is is the place. This mostly flat trail spans 13.3 miles of Millcreek Canyon and is a popular spot for those who love to run with their dogs or those who want to enjoy the gorgeous mountain views without too much incline. As a bonus, it is off-leash on odd days!

Dog Lake, Millcreek

True to its name, Dog Lake is the perfect hike for you and your best hiking buddy. Start at the trailhead in Millcreek Canyon, because the trailhead in Big Cottonwood Canyon doesn’t allow dogs. This trail is off-leash on odd numbered days. It is a 5 mile out and back trail, and be sure to stop at the top with your snacks & treats to enjoy peaceful Dog Lake surrounded by aspen trees.

Box Elder Peak, AF Canyon

If you are wanting something really challenging, try bagging Box Elder Peak with your adventure pup! This steep and challenging trail is rated on All Trails as hard - there are a few shorter trail options or you can go for the entire 14.3 mile loop if your legs & paws are up for it! This trail is popular for gorgeous wildflowers and fall foliage but make sure to go before it is too snowy.
